Who We Are

We are a team of Christians grounded in the Bible and its core message: salvation by grace through faith. We embrace the Apostle Paul’s exhortation: “Take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

To proclaim the sovereignty of the risen Christ over all of life in accordance with His teaching and the entire Holy Scripture, the Word of God (Matthew 28:18–20).

1. To highlight the destructive nature of contemporary idols and ideologies that oppose the kingship of Christ, the only Savior and Mediator between God and humankind (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
2. Proclaim the coming of the Kingdom of God according to His eternal plan, against all odds (Isaiah 24–27).
3. Call unbelievers to repentance and faith, and believers to a renewed life under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in obedience to their Lord and Savior.
4. To strengthen the faith of Christian communities through a comprehensive and intertextual understanding of the Bible, which is the perfect and sufficient divine revelation concerning faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Eric Kayayan is a Reformed pastor born and raised in France who first served in the Reformed Churches in South Africa, where he studied theology. As the leader of the organization Reformed Faith and Life (“Foi et Vie Réformées” in French), he continues the work begun by his parents in the 1960s, building on the same foundations and with the same conviction, while adapting it to new forms of communication. Author of several books and articles, he specializes in the study of the writings of the Reformer John Calvin.

Jacky Barbier is an IT project manager. Married to Natalie and the father of a teenager, he has been actively involved in serving the Church and Christian education for many years. He serves as president of the “Foi et Vie Réformées,” ensuring that the resources it produces remain faithful to its vision and mission.

For the past four years, he has also served as chairman of the board of La Nouvelle Alliance (The New Covenant), which operates a Protestant private school in Aix-en-Provence (South of France). He works to develop and promote Christian education.

Through articles on our website, posts on our social media platforms, podcasts, videos, books and printed articles, in-person and online seminars, as well as camps offering training for young and old alike, we address current theological, social and cultural issues. Whenever necessary, we use this biblical foundation to challenge contemporary ideologies that stifle the very freedom they claim to promote. We are active on YouTube, Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, X, Ausha, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. We also provide radio programs in French across three continents (Europe, the Americas, and Africa).

The logo of Foi et Vie Réformées is a unique design inspired by the Huguenot cross, which has been well known in European Protestantism for more than three centuries. For those unfamiliar with the symbolism of this cross, here is some background: it originated during the persecution of the Reformed—evangelical Protestants—by French monarchs.

Originally, this cross featured not a dove—a symbolic representation of the Holy Spirit—but a tear, symbolizing persecuted Christians. It is also sometimes interpreted as the tongues of fire that descended upon the disciples gathered at Pentecost, as described in Acts chapter 2.

The Huguenot cross was adopted by French Protestants toward the end of the 17th century as a sign of resistance, when King Louis XIV forbade them from wearing any distinctive symbols. The central shape of the cross is that of the Order of the Holy Spirit, similar to the Order of St. John, which, at the time, could not be interpreted as a sign of hostility toward the French monarchy.

The same is true of the four fleurs-de-lis, which symbolize the French monarchy but can also be interpreted as the crown of thorns worn by Jesus Christ during his Passion. The four hearts emerging from the intertwining fleurs-de-lis and the central cross represent the four Gospels of the New Testament.

The Holy Spirit descending in the form of a dove confirms and brings to fulfillment the perfect work of Christ accomplished on the Cross of Golgotha.
